Calibration Engineer
Location: Bradford, BD4
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
Salary: Up to £32,000
Contract Type: Permanent
About the Role
We are recruiting a hands‑on Calibration Engineer to join a well‑established engineering organisation in Bradford. This is a practical, shop‑floor‑focused role, suited to someone with strong experience calibrating machines and measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
You will take ownership of on‑site calibration activities, ensuring all machinery, measuring tools and test equipment are accurately calibrated, compliant and fit for purpose. Alongside the practical work, you will support the Quality function by maintaining calibration records and ensuring audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Hands‑On Calibration & Engineering
- Carry out hands‑on calibration of machines, measuring and test equipment across the production environment
- Perform on‑time calibration in line with internal schedules and external standards
- Fault‑find, adjust and verify equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Measure and record production samples as required
- Support engineers and production teams with calibration‑related issues
Calibration Control & Quality Compliance
- Maintain and update the site calibration database with accurate records
- Coordinate and manage external calibration services and suppliers
- Ensure full traceability of calibrated equipment for audits
- Produce scrap reports and maintain calibration and quality documentation
- Work in line with the company Quality Management System (including TS16949 or similar standards)
Safety, Compliance & General Duties
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Identify and respond to H&S concerns within the work area
- Carry out routine visits to production areas
- Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned with the role and business needs
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship trained (or equivalent hands‑on engineering background)
- Experience in a hands‑on calibration / metrology role within manufacturing or engineering
- Proven experience calibrating machines and measurement equipment on the shop floor
- Strong working knowledge of calibration equipment such as micrometers, calipers, plug gauges, etc.
- Understanding of TS16949 or similar quality systems
- IOSH Working Safely (or similar) – advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail with accurate record‑keeping skills
Working Environment
- Mix of hands‑on factory floor work and supporting administration
- Time spent directly on machines and production equipment
- PPE required when working in production areas
- Comfortable office facilities for documentation and reporting
