Lodge Porter / Receptionist

Location: Central Oxford
Salary: £29,000 £33,000 per annum £1,730 Oxford location allowance, plus excellent benefits
Hours: 12-hour shifts (days and nights) on a 16-day rota

An esteemed Oxford institution is seeking a Lodge Porter / Receptionist to join its front-of-house and security team. This is a varied and responsible role combining reception, security, and customer service duties in a prestigious and historic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming reception service.
• Maintain campus security through regular patrols, CCTV monitoring, and access control.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and fire alarms in line with safety procedures.
• Manage deliveries, mail, keys, and valuables entrusted to the Lodge.
• Assist with guest arrivals and departures, events, and visitor admissions.
• Handle telephone and general enquiries efficiently and courteously.
• Support the training of new Lodge staff and contribute to the smooth daily running of the Lodge.

Essential:

• Experience in customer service, security, or similar front-of-house work
• Strong interpersonal and time-management skills
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Physically fit and able to respond quickly in emergencies

Additional Information

This is a shift-based position (including weekends and bank holidays). The successful candidate will be required to undergo enhanced DBS clearance.
