Job Purpose

The General Operative is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the business by carrying out a range of manual, operational and general duties. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment, ensure tasks are completed efficiently, and support the wider team in meeting operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general manual handling and operational duties as required.

• Assist with the loading, unloading, moving and storage of materials, goods or equipment.

• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area.

• Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

• Operate basic machinery, tools or equipment where trained and authorised.

• Assist with the preparation, sorting, packing and movement of products or materials.

• Complete routine checks and report any faults, damage or safety concerns.

• Follow all company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and safe working practices.

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

• Work effectively as part of a team to achieve daily operational targets.

• Carry out any other reasonable duties relevant to the role.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.

• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn new tasks.

• Ability to undertake physical work, including lifting and moving materials, where required and in accordance with safe handling procedures.

• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.

• Awareness of health and safety practices.

Health and Safety

Working Conditions

The role may involve working in a warehouse, factory, workshop, construction site or other operational environment. The position may require standing for extended periods, manual handling, working shifts and performing physically demanding tasks, depending on business requirements.
