Civils Operative
About the role
The Recruitment Group are hiring for a Civils Operative on a 6-week temporary contract. As a Civils Operative you would be responsible for carrying out civil works at sites across the UK, supporting the installation and maintenance of garage equipment and infrastructure. This is a hands-on role that requires strong civil engineering skills, flexibility with travel, and the ability to work across varied environments.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out groundworks, excavation, concreting, foundations, drainage, and surface preparation.
Prepare and level sites for equipment installation, meeting all specifications and H&S standards.
Perform maintenance and repairs on existing civil works.
Support installation teams with required civil works.
Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations.
Travel to customer sites nationwide, including overnight stays when necessary.
Work closely with colleagues and supervisors to deliver projects on time.
Provide a professional and courteous service to clients.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in civil works, groundworks, or construction.
Competence in operating civil engineering machinery (excavators, dumpers, mixers, etc.).
Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practice.
Strong problem-solving abilities with adaptability in varied environments.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
CSCS Card, Dumper Ticket, and 360 Excavator Certificate (all essential).
Flexibility to work away from home when required.
Positive attitude and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
NVQ or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field.
First Aid training and other relevant certifications.
