Purpose of the Transport Manager Role:
Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Transport Manager to lead our transport department. This role is pivotal in ensuring that goods are delivered efficiently and on time, contributing significantly to the overall sales and service quality.
Main duties and responsibilities of the Transport Manager Role:
. Oversee a team of drivers and logistics staff, ensuring a high level of performance and job satisfaction. Provide training, guidance, and support as needed.
. Manage the in-house transport fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained, serviced, and compliant with all regulations.
. Work closely with courier services and external logistic fleets to arrange and optimise delivery schedules.
. Continuously assess and improve transportation strategies to reduce lead time, increase efficiency, and support sales growth.
. Ensure that all transportation activities comply with legal and safety standards.
. Monitor transportation costs and work on strategies to reduce expenses without compromising on service quality.
. Address and resolve any issues or delays in the transport process, implementing long-term solutions to recurrent problems.
. Regularly report on transport metrics and analyse data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Experience/knowledge requirements for the Transport Manager:
. Proven experience as a Transport Manager or similar role.
. Strong leadership and team management skills.
. Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
. Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements.
. Good understanding of logistics and supply chain management.
. Proficiency in transportation management software and tools.
. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
