Trainee Private Client Adviser – Permanent Contract to Start ASAP

Salary: £26,000pa - £28,000pa (D.O.E)

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme (ST5)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

  • This trainee role starts with learning and having a strong understanding of the Technical Support Administration and Paraplanning roles
  • To assist the Head of Private Clients and other Adviser colleagues in the execution of the advisory processes. Note that within this role, a Trainee Adviser will not be providing any financial advice to clients until they have passed the relevant exams and have been signed off as competent
  • To understand the role of a Private Client Adviser including systems and controls and procedural knowledge
  • To take relevant exams over the course of a 2-year period with a view to establishing competence as a Private Client Adviser (different exam route will be specific for each candidate)
  • To attend client meetings with advisers, both on and off site, and to write up the post meeting file notes and collate relevant documentation in preparation for it to be passed to Technical Support
  • Update all relevant meeting information onto systems for record keeping and the report writing process
  • To assist the Advisers in collating the relevant and necessary information about the client’s past and present financial arrangements to enable a full financial needs analysis to be carried out
  • To assist the Advisers in collating the relevant information to be able to assess the client’s attitude to risk including their willingness and ability to accept risk within procedures
  • To be able to take a theoretical approach to the assessment of the relative merits of financial planning and investment options using appropriate analytical systems and relevant data
  • To ensure that all relevant information is recorded on client files

  • Must be prepared to undergo studying and training with the aim to complete all exams to become a diploma qualified Financial Adviser
  • Experience working within the Financial Services industry is highly desirable
  • High attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to manage own workload and work within a small team
  • Willingness to undertake self-development
  • Knowledge of business processes, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ideally Adviser Office, Volume and Pulse systems
  • Ability to work under pressure at times
  • Ideally have knowledge of legal regulatory and industry requirements
  • Ideally have prior knowledge of the 5 Individual Conduct Rules that apply to all persons working in financial services
