Role – Toolmaker
Location – Nottingham
Salary - £36,000 plus overtime and benefits
Hours – 3 Shift (6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm / 10pm – 6am)
The Business
Our client specialise in the manufacture of various plastic homeware and garden products for a variety of supermarkets, garden centres and hardware suppliers. Over the past five years the business have heavily invested in both expanding their site and investment in new machinery. In the last year alone they have replaced all 37 of their Injection Moulding machines with brand new models.
The business is continuing to grow and expand their manufacturing capability and thanks to this increased demand they are now looking for an additional two Toolmakers to join their Tool Maintenance Department.
The Role
The Toolmaker will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of Injection Moulding Tooling. The business have a full machine shop with CNC grinders, CNC Milling machines, CNC Lathes, plus manual millers and lathes.
70% of the work will be focused on the stripping of the Tooling which can have multiple parts depending on the complexity of the product being manufactured. Once stripped down, the moulds would need to be checked for signs of wear and check the tool is still within tolerance using callipers and micrometers against technical drawings, then repairing any defects or even making a new part from scratch.
Maintenance would also include checking all the ancillary equipment on the Tool, including hot and cold water feeds, valves, sensors and switches, replacing and testing of Thermocouples, and checking and changing any hoses.
The Candidate
The Client is looking for someone with the following experience:
  • Experience using lathes and milling machines.
  • Bench stripping and fitting of mechanical parts.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment.
