Job Title: Refuse Collector

Location: Swindon-SN2

Pay rate: £11.59 PAYE.

Shift Pattern: 8.00am to 16.00pm- Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect waste from designated routes, adhering to established schedules and routes.
  • Load waste into collection vehicles manually or with mechanical equipment.
  • Separate recyclable materials from general waste and place them in appropriate containers.
  • As a Refuse Collector you will be unloading waste at disposal sites or recycling centres.
  • Safely and efficiently operate waste collection equipment, including compactors and lifting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with team members and drivers to optimize collection routes.
  • Strictly adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
  • Communicate with residents and businesses, educating them on waste disposal guidelines and regulations.
  • Refuse Collectors must maintain a professional and respectful demeanour while interacting with the public.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • All Refuse Collectors must be physical fit and can handle heavy lifting and repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and the public.
  • Knowledge of waste disposal regulations and safety procedures is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is beneficial but not required.

This role is a month's contract and will start on 9th November 2023 until 9th December 2023, although, there is a possibility of an extension.
