Role - Quality, Health & Safety Officer
Location - Birmingham 
Hours of Work - 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
Salary - £35,000 - £45,000 (Depending on experience)

Role Purpose
To manage the Quality Health & Safety systems within the business, by working with all department. To ensure that customer product quality is maximised. All certifications are maintained to an acceptable level and to facilitate awareness of Quality Health & Safety principles throughout the workforce. The role has the principal purpose of ensuring full compliance with applicable Health & Safety Executive legislation, along with the consistent application, by all staff, of HSE management systems and safe working practices derived from risk assessment. You will be reporting to the Production Director.

  • Quality Health & Safety experience

  • You have proven experience of developing and supporting quality and H&S processes

  • Ideally to have experience of appropriate H&S procedures in a Manufacturing environment

  • You have experience with the facilitation of requirement gathering, defining acceptance criteria, and coaching others on QA principles

  • You can drive quality and H&S improvements across the board, in the rigour of technical documentation, consistency in approach and against policy

  • You understand audit techniques and ability to identify the most effective techniques and tools to use

  • Have robust knowledge and understanding of the ISO standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral

  • Sound knowledge & working application of key QA issues and legislation

  • Knowledge of MS office applications word, excel etc

  • Good understanding of British Standards

  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines

  • Presentation skills

  • Fluent English speaker (essential)

  • Experience in a similar role with a focus on QMS and H&S

  • Proven history of Quality and H&S management delivery

Role Duties

  • Responsible for the Quality Health & Safety

  • Review and update existing quality and health and safety internal management system policies and processes

  • Ensure relevant legislation is adhered to and provide support to the Management and staff on quality, health and safety matters

  • Managing day to day aspects of QA to ensure that standards are met and raised regarding quality assurance of product

  • BRC, FSC, Packaging Waste, HSE regulations to be kept up to date

  • Pallet management

  • Act as first point of contact from the production area in regard to quality matters

  • Promoting and enforcing good quality practises and hygiene standards

  • Conduct required H&S training

  • Ensure quality inspection rounds are completed on all designated shifts

  • Liaise with customers and specific departments on quality complaints; arrange return of goods, where appropriate for reworking and sorting

  • Conduct where appropriate Testing, Calibration of materials

  • Responsible for completing Non Conformance Reports and Investigations

  • Responsible for completing Customer Complaint Reports and Investigations

  • Assessing board claims and completing claim reports to the board agents

  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with yearly plan

  • Conducting external visits and audits on suppliers

  • Support uptake and compliance to project delivery QA policies and procedures, including technical rigour, designing, and implementing end-to-end approach

  • Conduct health and safety hazard identification and risk assessments

  • Schedule internal audits and administer audit finding record keeping and trend analysis

  • Carry out project audits as required to create a reasonable surety that internal processes are understood and being followed

  • Support external audits and certification renewals

  • Schedule and attend Health and Safety Meetings
