Job Role:
To take full responsibility for all IT issues both hardware and software and also included mobile phones/ tablets/ Faxes/ printers/ copiers/ IT cabling etc. The role is varied and will involve the day to day support of approx. 500 users and growing. Also it is to identify, propose, obtain approval, project manage the implementation of new hardware and software.

  • Ability to work on own initiative & prioritise workload, whilst working as part of a team.

  • Manage the IT team.

  • Management of IT suppliers and ensure suitable SLA are in place.

  • Ability to work under pressure & meet tight deadlines.

  • Willing to work outside of normal hours to ensure minimal disruption to business.

  • Knowledge required for role:

    • Good knowledge of general IT software/ hardware and how to maintain/ update etc

    • Microsoft Server knowledge

    • Networking – Security, Firewall Management, switches, etc.

    • Windows 7, 8, 10, 12 including latest version

    • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of Office 365

  • SQL knowledge is desirable but not essential.

  • PC/ printers hardware maintenance.

  • Ability to lead/ support/ Project manage IT projects (Priorities projects).

  • Knowledge of Autoline Rev 8 is very desirable but not essential.


Main Duties:

  • Management of IT team.

  • Ensure company is compliant with IT licences of software.

  • Development of an IT strategy for the company.

  • Ensure IT projects are managed / controlled and reported on a regular basis.

  • Provide support/ backup to the rest of the IT team.

  • Ensure as far as possible the systems/ hardware are 100% available.

  • Ensure PC/ Laptops/ software are being upgraded/ replaced to ensure staff are kept efficient

  • Providing backup support to the helpdesk and ensure that calls reported are actioned in a timely manner and prioritised.

  • Ensure anti-virus software is maintained/ installation/ upgraded.

  • Ensure the business has suitable/ robust backup systems/ processes in place.

  • Ensure we have suitable connectivity including between depots.

  • Manage and develop telephone system.

  • Manage/ monitor and improve IT response times to logged calls/ issues.

  • Ensure all projects are properly documented & monitored and deadlines agreed & where possible adhered to.

  • Ensure report on, monitor costs incurred, and is in line of the approved level of investments.

  • Ensure appropriate training on all new equipment & software is undertaken (both internal & External)

  • Ensure procedures are updated and rolled out across the company for each depot.

  • Run certain projects as agreed with Finance director including clear objectives

  • Support the IT team as 3rd/ 4th line support when required

  • Ensure standard procedures across the company and ensure all depots have suitable training/ documentation & Procedures.



Backup to Network Administrator Support Duties:

  • Manage incoming help requests via helpdesk software system.

  • Perform hands-on fixes at desktop level.

  • § Install and upgrade software.

  • Re-build pc’s, ghost new machines.

  • § Perform Server and data backups.

  • § Audit of equipment & collation of information.


Other general duties

  • Requirement to travel between locations as required by the necessities of the business.

  • To perform any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time within the scope of your knowledge, skills and ability.
