Our client is one of the largest building product suppliers in the UK, with an estimated annual turnover of over £350million. The business specialises in the production of bricks, and supplies to hundreds of construction companies UK and worldwide.
This specific plant specialises in the manufacturing of Thermalite blocks, which involves a complex and bespoke process. The machinery requires both planned and reactive maintenance, as due to the nature of the manufacturing process it is common for components to become compromised and worn.
The role will require the successful candidate to attend breakdowns and assist a team of Mechanical Engineers with the maintenance of electrical control systems within the plant.
The ability to fault find with a Multimeter and read electrical drawings is vital. Approximately 90% of all work will be electrical in nature working on control systems, working in panels, and changing electrical components.
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be required to be proficient in both reactive and planned electrical maintenance. The plant is fully operational for six days per week, in which time any issue with the equipment would have to be fixed immediately to avoid partial or total plant shutdown. For one day a week (typically on a Tuesday), the Maintenance Engineer will need to undertake regular planned maintenance on various machinery apparatus.
Adherence to the client’s compliance policy, health and safety, and any updates in industry standards is crucial. Keeping up with electrical maintenance knowledge will allow the engineer to carry out the work with maximum effectiveness and efficiency over a long-term basis.
The ideal candidate must have the following attributes, in order to be successful in this application:
Must be able to fault-find with a Multimeter and read electrical drawings
ONC/HNC/HND/other recognised electrical trade qualification is essential
Have excellent written and oral communication skills
Be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
Be a team player within both the department and the wider plant team
