Tips to de-stress at work

Since 1992, every April marks Stress Awareness Month in the UK, and whether you're a recruiter or not, there are always times when we can become stressed at work. Stress Awareness Month; an annual initiative, aims to raise awareness of the causes & cures for the "modern stress epidemic"

To raise awareness for this important month; we've teamed up with our partners Ok Positive to talk about the causes of stress, how it can manifest, and tips for dealing with it.

If you're worried about a friend or colleague being stressed, here are some signs you can look out for:
  • Loss of motivation/commitment

  • Increased time at work

  • Irritability

  • Reduced social contacts

  • Temper outbursts

  • Difficulty relaxing

  • Tension headaches

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), 17.9 million working days were lost to stress, anxiety or depression in 2019/20.

It's important to remember to take a few moments for yourself if you're feeling under pressure. Whether you just want to take a deep breath or zone out and listen to some music - these are all proven to help you relax.

Here are a few tips to help put you in a calmer space 👇

There are also plenty of interactive Apps, such as OK+, that can provide you with helpful tools and videos to manage stress. Our Marketing Manager Lloyd spoke to OK+ Founder - Charlie Winton about how the app works, along with the tools it can provide to help with mental health:

Here at The Recruitment Group, our people are the backbone of our business. And it's important to us that our teams have everything they need to be successful and have as much support around mental health as possible. We're powered by people - without them, we couldn't be us.

Our mission is to put the human element back into recruitment, by placing people at the heart of the recruitment journey and challenging the status quo.

Everyone at The Recruitment Group is given the OK+ App, which allows them to confidentially log their feelings & give anonymous feedback. Most importantly, it unlocks a ton of helpful resources- from mindfulness and meditation to helplines and sleep guides.
